le cordon bleu

Young Gourmet Gastronomy is proud of our association with the internationally acclaimed, culinary educator Le Cordon Bleu. If you are asking yourself, "who the heck is Le Cordon Bleu?", then click on their logo and take a peek at their Australian website or keep on reading.....

Le Cordon Bleu Australia is part of the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu School in Paris. The Parisan school began way back in 1895 and has been a leader in culinary education ever since.

Legend has it that ye olde Order of the Knights of the Holy Spirit - try saying it in French - L'Ordre des Chevaliers du Saint Esprit - formed in 1578 by King Henry III wore the symbol of their order (a maltese cross like in the logo) around their necks secured by a blue riband - in French - le cordon bleu. All the common folk nicknamed the knights "les cordon bleus" and held them in high regard because they were chivalrous (being knights and all) and apparently had wickedly grand feasts. Thus, the term "le cordon bleu" became synonymous with magnificant food prepared by magnificent chefs!

Today Le Cordon Bleu encompasses 26 international schools in 15 countries, attended by more than 18,000 students every year. In Australia their schools offer courses in:

  • Professional Culinary Arts and Management
  • Bachelor of Business International Hotel & Resort Management
  • Bachelor of Business International Restaurant & Catering Management
  • Master of Business Administration International Hotel & Restaurant Management
  • Master of International Hospitality Management
  • Master of Arts in Gastronomy (our YG web editor got one of the first)

We reckon our association with Le Cordon Bleu is pretty cool, oops, en vouge, and thank them for all the support they give us!
